— Five years SQL database design/architecture and database administration experience
— Strong experience of relational databases and clusters, backup and restore operations, replication, DB logins/permissions, stored procedures, schema, triggers, database maintenance, etc.
— Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and higher
— Fluency in writing T-SQL queries.
— Experience with Database Continuous Integration/Deployment tools
— Intermediate English both written and verbal
— Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field.

— Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting MS SQL Server 2014 for high availability
— Ensure best practices (performance and security) is followed in all database servers and databases (accounts, stored procedures, views, etc.)
— Manage backups and restores of databases
— Review scripts delivered by application teams to ensure they follow best practices
— Ensure database servers are up to date with patches
— Ensure the security and auditing of all database servers
— Storage and compute capacity planning for all databases and their associated servers
— Monitor, advise, and configure the read only databases to be scaled across the appropriate number of servers (and configured in the ELBs) to meet expected demand
— Monitor, advise, and configure the read/write database clusters to be allocated appropriately to provide the necessary performance to meet expected demand
— Work with application teams to support release deployments
— Work with application teams to troubleshoot
— Support all security audits as necessary
— Advice application teams on database design
— Perform actions on databases as requested by application teams (database refreshes, scripts, etc.)
— Database tuning / reindexing with application teams
— Work with application teams to automate DBA activities
— Stay informed of the latest technologies and best practices related to databases and make suggestions when these may improve our applications/processes
— Testing HA to ensure automatic failover works
— Testing Disaster Recovery procedures and participating in exercises to ensure they work
— Developing data encryption methodology to meet customer data security guidelines
