Epic Data & Analytics Consultant (Presales / Freelance)

We are looking for an experienced Epic Data & Analytics Consultant to join us as an External Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a freelance basis.

You will support our presales and solution architecture team in pitching and designing a cloud data migration strategy for a major healthcare network running on Epic Systems.

This is an advisory / presales consulting role (not full-time employment, and not hands-on development). Your primary role will be to provide high-level Epic expertise during assessment calls, review proposed architectures, highlight Epic-specific risks, and help us build realistic project estimates.

Scope of Work:

• Architecture & Proposal Review: Review proposed data pipelines and cloud architectures (Snowflake/AWS/Azure) from an Epic data model perspective.
• Risk & Assumption Identification: Highlight Epic-specific constraints (ETL latency, Clarity/Caboodle extraction limits, schema changes during upgrades) that could impact project scope and cost.
• Presales Advisory & Client Calls: Join selected technical discovery workshops or client pitch meetings as an Epic Data SME.
• Data Mapping Guidance: Advise on core data relationships across clinical (Ambulatory, Inpatient, ADT) and financial (HB/PB) domains, including entity resolution (MRN, NPI, PHI rules).
• Workload Strategy: Help determine which analytical workloads should remain in native Epic (Cogito) versus migrated to an external cloud platform.

Key Requirements:

• Proven Epic Data Architecture Knowledge: Practical experience working with Epic Clarity (relational) and Caboodle (dimensional DWH).
• Epic Ecosystem Understanding: Familiarity with Chronicles, Epic ETL processes, Cogito tools (Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer), and integration patterns (FHIR, HL7, Interconnect).
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of clinical workflows and billing structures (Hospital & Professional Billing).
• Presales / Consulting Mindset: Ability to articulate risks and technical constraints clearly to solution architects and client stakeholders.
• Language: English (B2+) for client-facing calls.

Nice to Have:

• Epic Certification in Clarity or Caboodle Data Models.
• Hands-on experience with healthcare standard terminologies (ICD-10, CPT, LOINC, OMOP CDM).
• Prior experience supporting presales, discovery phases, or cloud migration assessments.
