Python Tech Lead

We are looking for a Python Tech Lead to join a fast-growing fintech startup building an AI-powered compliance platform that helps regulated financial institutions monitor marketing content and customer communications at scale. You’ll lead backend development for a product used by banks, trading platforms, and fintechs to automate risk detection and regulatory enforcement across multiple jurisdictions.

This role is a strong fit for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working across the full stack, taking ownership of features end-to-end, and solving complex product and engineering challenges with a high level of autonomy.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
• Drive technical decisions and contribute to the overall system architecture.
• Take ownership of features throughout the full development lifecycle, from solution design to production support.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Evaluate technical trade-offs, identify risks, and propose pragmatic solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Support and mentor other engineers when needed.
• Contribute across multiple technologies when required, including Node.js and frontend components.
• Leverage modern AI-powered development tools and automation to accelerate engineering workflows while critically validating generated outputs.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Python and modern backend development.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, microservices, RESTful API design, databases, testing, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda, AppSync, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Experience designing, delivering, and supporting production-ready systems at scale.
• Ability to take ownership of technical solutions and make well-reasoned engineering decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic engineering mindset.
• Experience working across multiple technologies or the ability to quickly learn new ones.
• Exposure to Node.js or confidence in picking it up quickly.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with React.js or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience working in FinTech or another complex product domain.
• Previous experience in startup or rapidly scaling product environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and distributed systems.
• Practical experience using LLMs, coding assistants, AI agents, or workflow automation in day-to-day software development.
