German-speaking SAP Consultant (freelance)

We are an IoT services company expanding our SAP delivery capabilities for industrial manufacturing and healthcare clients. We are looking for a hands-on SAP expert who will not only lead SAP engagements for our customers but also help establish and scale our SAP practice internally.
This is a delivery-first role. You will act as the senior SAP authority on client projects, driving solution design, delivery excellence, and technical leadership while helping build long-term SAP capabilities within the organization.

Responsibilities:

SAP Delivery & Solution Leadership

• Lead SAP workstreams across client engagements, including:
  
  • Discovery and requirements gathering
  • Fit-gap analysis
  • Solution design
  • System configuration
  • Integration architecture
• Serve as the primary SAP expert during customer workshops and strategic discussions.
• Drive architecture decisions and ensure delivery quality across SAP initiatives.

Pre-Sales & Client Engagement

• Support business development and pre-sales activities.
• Scope SAP engagements and estimate delivery effort.
• Review Statements of Work (SoWs) and project proposals.
• Participate in customer meetings as the SAP subject matter expert.

Practice Development

• Develop reusable delivery assets, including:
  
  • Reference architectures
  • Estimation frameworks
  • Delivery methodologies
  • Best-practice checklists
• Help define SAP delivery standards and governance processes.
• Contribute to the growth and maturity of the SAP practice.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor engineers and architects on:
  
  • SAP fundamentals
  • SAP BTP
  • CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model)
  • ABAP Cloud
  • Integration patterns and best practices
• Support technical decision-making and guide implementation teams.

Hiring & Capability Building

• Assist in defining SAP role profiles and competency frameworks.
• Participate in candidate interviews and technical assessments.
• Help build a high-performing SAP delivery team.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on SAP delivery experience.
• Proven track record of at least 3 full-cycle SAP S/4HANA or ECC implementations, major rollouts, or transformation programs.
• Strong client-facing experience with the ability to independently facilitate workshops, manage stakeholders, and defend architectural decisions.
• Fluent English & German (B2+ or higher).

Compliance & Regulated Environments

• Validation processes

• Regulatory requirements within manufacturing or healthcare domains

Nice to Have

• SAP certifications (S/4HANA, BTP, Integration Suite).
• Experience with consulting firms, system integrators, SAP partners, or Big 4 organizations.
• Exposure to IoT-to-SAP integration scenarios, including:

  • Track & trace solutions
• Experience building or scaling an SAP practice within a services organization.
