R&D Group Manager — Payments by Wix

Job Description

As an R&D Group Manager at Payments by Wix, you’ll be joining a fast-growing group dealing with all aspects of online payment processing and financial services for Wix users. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the technical vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams, and managing a diverse and talented group of engineers. You will:

• Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for the Activation team
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to align on needs and priorities
• Manage a prioritized backlog and establish both short-term and long-term goals
• Lead a team of frontend and backend engineers, fostering a collaborative and respectful environment and supporting their professional and technical growth through coaching and mentorship
• Balance high-impact, sustainable development with efficient project delivery
• Promote continuous improvement in code quality, architecture, and engineering processes

Requirements

• Experience in a leadership role that includes managing multiple engineering teams, such as Engineering Manager, Technology Manager or Technical Product Manager

• Strong backend expertise and ability to engage in technical planning and design (JVM stack preferred)
• Ability to collaborate with non-R&D stakeholders, and a history of mentoring high-performing engineering teams
• Strong decision making skills, and experience in building and scaling product to meet company growth
• Familiar with frontend and mobile development; savvy with modern technologies, including AI
• Familiarity with the payments domain — an advantage
