Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

We are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer for one of our clients. In this role, you will help improve their cloud data platform and move from batch processing to real-time data streaming. You will work with Azure tools, data pipelines, and modern data architecture to support products that use analytics and AI.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and refactor big data pipelines in Azure Synapse for performance, scalability, and maintainability Contribute to the migration of our data warehouse to a private network, including Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and related services
• Influence cloud-native architecture decisions with a focus on security, reliability, and cost-efficiency
• Lead the transition from batch ETL to real-time streaming using Confluent Cloud and Kafka
• Collaborate with platform and product teams to deliver high-quality, reliable data for analytics and AI features
• Design and implement lakehouse architecture patterns for structured and semi-structured data
• Write efficient SQL for complex data transformations and aggregations
• Mentor team members, participate in code reviews, and foster a strong engineering culture
• Evaluate and adopt modern data tools to support platform modernization and innovation

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Big Data, ideally with Azure
• Hands-on with: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, ADLS Gen2
• Experience with Kafka / Confluent Cloud and streaming architectures
• Strong SQL, data modeling, and data architecture knowledge
• Comfortable working with high-volume datasets
• Understanding of data security, governance, and cloud best practices

Nice to have

• Experience with Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Microsoft Fabric
• Familiarity with Data Mesh, VNet integration, or event-driven design
• DevOps & CI/CD skills: Terraform, GitHub Actions
• Knowledge of dbt or Airflow
