About the role:
We’re looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our growing tech team and help build the backbone of Chowdeck’s food delivery ecosystem. You’ll design and maintain robust APIs and backend systems that power multiple applications — from our customer app to the vendor and rider apps — enabling a fast, seamless delivery experience at scale.

You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to develop high-quality, high-performance features that enhance the entire delivery experience.

Main responsibilities:
You will play a key role in designing and building scalable, reliable backend systems that keep Chowdeck running smoothly:

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Debug and resolve production issues across multiple services.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and UX teams to deliver high-quality features.
• Implement solutions to improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Identify technical debt and propose improvements in architecture, tooling, and processes.
• Ensure backend systems meet our standards for performance, security, and maintainability.

Your experience:
We’d love to see:

• 3+ years of experience in backend development (Node.js preferred).
• Solid understanding of Node.js, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Experience with Redis, AWS, or Google Cloud environments.
• Strong focus on building scalable, testable, and maintainable code.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to think through complex product requirements.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills — you can explain technical topics clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• A passion for performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Bonus points for:

• Experience leading small engineering teams or mentoring other developers.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture or distributed systems.
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
