A rapidly scaling health technology platform focused on delivering personalized metabolic outcomes is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and optimize secure, compliant, and scalable data infrastructure. The role spans both batch and real-time data processing across AWS and GCP environments to power analytics, personalization, and operational decision-making in a regulated (HIPAA) context.

Key skills and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles
  • Advanced expertise with Postgres, Redshift, and BigQuery
  • Strong background in AWS data services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Kinesis, IAM) and/or equivalent GCP streaming and storage services
  • Proven hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures
  • Proficiency in dbt, Fivetran, and automated ELT/ETL pipeline development
  • Experience with data warehousing, transformation, performance tuning, and orchestration
  • Familiarity with Looker for downstream analytics consumption
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance, data privacy standards, and best practices for securing Protected Health Information (PHI)

Primary responsibilities

  • Design and build real-time and batch data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery across cloud platforms
  • Develop and maintain scalable data models in Redshift and BigQuery for analytical, operational, and ML workloads
  • Implement HIPAA-compliant data flows with role-based access control, encryption, and monitoring
  • Optimize data architecture for performance, cost, and reliability in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Integrate internal and third-party data sources using Fivetran, streaming services, and cloud-native tooling
  • Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering teams to provide trusted, secure data for insights and personalization
  • Enable real-time decision-making capabilities through event-driven architectures and streaming analytics pipelines
