Washmen is a mobile-based laundry service that is fully vertically integrated. This means that we operate our own fleet, as well as 2 laundries. We currently generate ~ $10m per year. The business is profitable, and we are looking to reinvest all of our profits back into the organization.
We were founded in 2015, and are a UAE-based startup operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. 100% of our revenue is generated locally.
We are the largest retail laundry in the UAE in terms of number of customers, as well as revenues. Furthermore, we were ranked by the Internation Committee of Laundry and Textile Cleaning (CINET) as the best laundry in the UAE, Asia and 3rd best laundry in the world.
Expansion is on the cards and we think there are 2 vectors of growth.
The first is geographical expansion, where our core team would go to another market to launch our services there.
The other is opening up our software to laundry players in all markets where we do not operate it, by transforming all of our existing modules to be compatible with a SaaS-based business model. We have a lot of inbounds and there’s a pipeline of interest locally, regionally and internationally.
Weekly all-hands company meetings where business, operations, customer service, product and marketing are discussed thoroughly.
We have 4 main products.
The customer app;
The driver app;
The facility portal (many small apps within);
The Admin panel.
There are also some integrations with hardware equipment.
The customer app, facility portal and admin panel have been refreshed recently. The driver app will need some refactoring but is stable. There is a big opportunity for joiners.
Product teams consist of four major entities: Supply, Demand, Experience (XP), and Cost Optimization Team (COT), with 3 to 6 developers each. They are cross-functional, self-sufficient, and highly autonomous teams, working in direct cooperation with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Back-end Engineers. Our product managers work with product designers, engineers, and researchers to deliver the industry’s best product experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
— You will work alongside the product teams and product managers to iterate on new features within the Product;
— As a Senior Engineer, you will take responsibility for the design and execution of your own initiatives;
— You will help identify areas of improvement in the codebase and help contribute to making it better;
— You will frequently pair with teammates to give and receive feedback from a code review to boost knowledge-sharing, learning, and improve the platform;
— You will fix any prioritized bug/issues tracked within the platform;
— You will participate as a presenter or attendee in weekly coding or knowledge-sharing sessions;
— You will help develop talent internally by mentoring and helping junior talent;
— You will learn, develop your soft skills and spend time discussing best practices and technologies with your peers;
— You will get the opportunity to take part in the hiring process of some engineers.
