The Fourth Law / TFL / Четвертий Закон is an autonomous robotics company focused on solving massively scalable autonomy for defensive FPV drones. The company has offices in the US, EU and Ukraine and is on a mission to increase the defensive capabilities of the Free World. Its name is a reference to Isaac Asimov’s three laws of robotics, and the search for an enigmatic Fourth Law.

As we expand both domestically and internationally, we are seeking a highly skilled and business-oriented Head of Legal to establish and lead our legal function.

This is a strategic leadership role requiring deep expertise in managing a diverse legal function in an international group of companies (experience in corporate structuring, international compliance, and export controls would be a plus), as well as the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business processes. The Head of Legal will work closely with the executive team to support operations in Ukraine and abroad, ensuring our legal framework scales with our rapid growth.

Responsibilities:

1. Build and Lead Legal Function: Establish and manage in-house legal functions, develop strategy, policies, and act as primary legal advisor to the CEO and executive team.
2. Corporate Structuring & Governance: Lead initiatives for international group structure, corporate compliance, and statutory filings.
3. External Counsel Management: Engage and manage relationships with external legal advisors in Ukraine and internationally.
4. Export Control & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee export control documentation, ensure compliance with Ukrainian, EU, and US regulations.
5. Business Process Development: Design processes for contract management, corporate compliance, and IP rights management, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
6. Intellectual Property Management: Develop IP protection strategies, oversee trademark, patent, and copyright registrations.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Law degree from a recognized university; international qualifications are a plus.
• 8–10 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in corporate structuring, M&A, cross-border legal work, and export control compliance (preferably Ukrainian, EU, and US regimes) is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in defence, aerospace, high-tech, or manufacturing sectors is preferred.
• Experience managing external counsel and multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in Ukrainian and English (written and spoken).
