What Does a Business Analyst Do?

A skilled Business Analyst is responsible for the implementation and support of business information systems across multiple departments. They identify problems and opportunities within a company and ultimately provide solutions that help achieve the business’ goals.

Analysis of the customer’s business needs;
Drawing up requirements for the future product (communication with stakeholders — developers, customers, end-users;
Requirements analysis (application of various methodologies and notations — prototyping, questioning, polling, brainstorming, analysis of existing documentation, competitors;
Analysis of problem areas and suggestions for improvement;
Formalization of requirements (separation of requirements into business, functional, non-functional, writing requirements specification;
Requirements management (processing of requests for changes, analysis and description of the impact on existing requirements;
Translation of requirements between developers and the client.
