Swarmer is a Vendor-Agnostic Autonomy for Coordinated Robots. We develop AI-managed collaborative autonomy to make teams of connected drones and autonomous systems smart, efficient, and self-improving over time.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Head of Integration & Flight Test — a hands-on leader who will own the full cycle from hardware readiness to QC and field execution. This role combines three domains:
- Hardware preparation (airframes, payloads, batteries, comms).
- Quality control (appset loading, system readiness, test protocols, safety).
- Field testing (polygon operations, mission execution, feedback loop).
This position is for someone who can take chaos, structure it, and turn it into repeatable results — fast.
🚀 WHAT YOU’LL DO:
1. Integration & Readiness
- Ensure all drones and payloads are flight-ready: hardware assembled, firmware/software flashed, QC passed.
- Maintain inventory of test hardware, spares, and consumables.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to incorporate fixes and upgrades.
2. Quality Control
- Build and run QC processes for new builds, prototypes, and updates.
- Develop and enforce pre-flight and post-flight checklists.
- Promote a “safety-first” testing culture while keeping tempo high.
3. Flight Test Leadership
- Formulate flight test plans based on company priorities (tasks gathered from engineering, product, and ops).
- Organize and execute flight test campaigns at ranges; manage pilots and drone engineers during operations.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders; provide regular Jira/Confluence reports.
Collect, analyze, and translate flight data into actionable recommendations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
📌 Must-Haves
- Experience managing small engineering/ops teams (5–10 ppl).
- Proven experience in UAV testing, integration, or field operations.
- Strong understanding of flight dynamics, control systems, and mission ops.
- Practical hands-on skills: assembly, tuning, troubleshooting of UAVs.
- Ability to design and run structured test campaigns, interpret data, and close the loop with engineering.
- Strong organizational and communication skills: can “push” multiple stakeholders until results happen.
- Stress resilience, fast problem-solving, persistence, and ownership-driven mindset.
- English (intermediate+) for cross-border coordination.
- Willingness to work in field conditions (Ukraine test ranges, all seasons).
📌 Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with multirotor and fixed-wing UAVs.
- Familiarity with Ardupilot, Betaflight, iNav.
- Basic repair and maintenance skills (electronics, mechanics).
- Military or volunteer UAV experience.
- Technical degree (aviation, robotics, electronics).
- Knowledge of certification / airworthiness standards.
- Kyiv location is a plus (but not mandatory).
🌱 WE OFFER:
- Direct impact: see the systems you test flying in combat and saving lives.
- Work in one of the fastest-growing Ukrainian defense-tech startups.
- Exposure to multiple domains: hardware, autonomy, operations.
- Competitive salary, insurance, and legal benefits (reservation, etc).
- Dynamic, passionate team and mission-driven culture.
- A chance to shape the core autonomy and perception systems at the heart of Ukraine’s defense tech ecosystem and its international expansion.
