Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Instrument Control Software Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is unlocking the power of spatial biomolecule profiling to bring new insight into biological systems and disease. Here, you will be at the cutting edge of spatially resolved genomic profiling, building tools to characterize biological samples’ molecular composition with unprecedented throughput, fidelity, and resolution. We are seeking a software engineer to help build the instrument control software. This exciting opportunity is for motivated engineers to apply their software engineering expertise to address key biological questions within a rapidly growing company. Reporting to the Director of Technology and Partnerships, you will be responsible for ensuring the software products’ robust development and deployment. We seek an experienced Software Engineer with strong experience in building and deploying reliable and robust software tools locally and on the cloud with rigorous testing and CI. Product tech stack We currently base most of our development around AWS, using their services such as DynamoDB, Amplify, Batch, Lambda, and such. Most of our functional backend code is in Python, and the frontend is typically in React. Our on-prem development is focused on our instrument product and is mainly Python for the instrument control and analysis software. We have four projects currently active: a gene panel design web application (AWS infrastructure, Python/React), our instrument control software (Python backend, Electron/React front-end the instrument control role will be focused on the back-end), our image processing software (Python/C++), and data visualization software (C++).
6+ years building and deploying production-grade software in Python;
Experience with deploying into the cloud (AWS), CI setup;
Conversational English, excellent communication skills with a strong work ethic and motivation;
Experience with AWS DynamoDB, Amplify, Batch, Lambda, and such;
BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, computational biology, or related computational field;
6+ years of experience building robust and responsive software, including instrument control software for automated imaging systems;
Experience building instrument control software for scientific instrumentation.
Work within the software and technology development team to build robust instrument control software to run the MERFISH instrument;
Incorporated and debug new features in the instrument control software;
Implement and debug the API to connect the instrument control software to the UI;
Implement hardware emulation to facilitate UI development;
Implement appropriate tests to ensure the code is easily maintainable.
