Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure and systems necessary for efficient and effective data processing within our organization. You will leverage your expertise in data engineering, software development, and data architecture to ensure the availability, accuracy, and reliability of data pipelines and analytical tools.

Qualification and experience:

• 4+ years of commercial experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, including solid experience in data pipeline development and data architecture design;

• Strong skills in Python and SQL languages;

• Proficiency with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, BigQuery, etc.);

• Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT concepts;

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related data services;

• Familiarity with database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, etc.);

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities;

• Ability to lead and mentor junior data engineers;

• Understanding of data security and privacy best practices;

• Strong mathematical, statistical, and algorithmic skills;
• A master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar.

What impact you will make

• Data Architecture and Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand data requirements, identify data sources, and design scalable data architecture solutions. Create data models, schemas, and flow diagrams to guide development.
• Data Pipeline Development: Develop, implement, optimize and maintain efficient and reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to collect, process, and integrate data from various sources into data warehouses, data lakes, and other storage solutions.
• Data Quality and Governance: Establish data quality standards, implement data validation processes, and ensure data integrity throughout the pipeline. Adhere to data governance policies and best practices, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
• Big Data Implementation and Design: Stay up-to-date with the latest big data technologies, frameworks, and tools. Evaluate and recommend appropriate data storage, processing, and analysis technologies for scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Database Management: Manage and maintain databases and data warehouses, including database tuning, indexing, and performance optimization. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.
• Software Development: Utilize programming languages such as Python or SQL to build robust data engineering solutions, APIs, and automation scripts. Employ version control and CI/CD practices to ensure code quality and deployment efficiency.
• Collaboration and Mentoring: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers. Collaborate with other teams to understand their data needs and help implement data-driven solutions for their specific requirements.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor data pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize data processing speed and reduce latency. Implement mechanisms for alerting and troubleshooting potential data issues.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to deploy and manage data engineering solutions. Leverage cloud-based services for data storage, processing, and management.
