Lead Finance Manager / Deputy CFO

Spendbase is a fast-growing fintech SaaS startup helping companies take control of their spending. With our all-in-one platform, businesses can manage SaaS subscriptions, cloud costs, and corporate cards in one place — bringing clarity and control to company expenses.

We are looking for a Finance Lead / Deputy CFO to work closely with our CFO and take ownership of a significant part of the financial function at Spendbase.

This is a role for someone who truly understands how finance works, not just follows processes. You should be comfortable asking “why”, challenging assumptions, and building scalable financial systems for a fast-growing international fintech.

You will act as a strong partner to the CFO, lead financial projects end-to-end, manage parts of the team, and gradually take over key areas such as reporting, internal controls, and selected compliance-related tasks.

What you’ll do:

• Act as a deputy to the CFO and take ownership of key financial processes
• Lead and improve financial reporting (management reporting, forecasts, budgets)
• Ensure accuracy, transparency, and consistency of financial data across entities
• Take ownership of internal controls and internal audit—like functions
• Support and partially own compliance-related financial tasks (in cooperation with Legal/Compliance)
• Lead and mentor finance team members, set clear standards and expectations
• Drive finance-related projects end-to-end (process improvements, tooling, scaling initiatives)
• Work closely with founders and leadership team, translating numbers into clear insights and decisions

What we’re looking for:

• Senior-level experience as a Finance Lead / Finance Manager / Deputy CFO or similar role
• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial processes
• Proven experience managing or mentoring finance teams
• International experience (multi-country, multi-entity setup); local Ukraine-only experience is not sufficient
• Strong understanding of compliance-related financial processes (fintech / regulated environment is a big plus)
• High level of ownership, proactivity, and adaptability in a fast-changing startup environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex financial topics clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Fluent English is a must

Nice to have:

• Experience in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth startups
• Experience working closely with Legal / Compliance teams
• Hands-on experience building or scaling finance functions from scratch or during rapid growth
