We are currently seeking a Team Lead Java Engineering to drive the development of our internal product.

About the role

As a Team Lead Java Engineer, you will take full ownership of an internal platform designed to provide essential tools for consultants at SPD Technology. The SPD Portal includes key functionalities such as:

• Time Tracking Platform — Enables employees to track their working hours and generate various reports, with Jira integration.
• Company Calendar — Displays employee statuses (vacations, holidays, sick leaves) and manages vacation balances.
• Projects and Hierarchy Management — Showcases company projects and employee roles within them.
• Career Path Module — Provides consultants with skill requirements and career growth opportunities.
• Compensation Service — Supports the merit review process.

This platform plays a crucial role in streamlining internal operations and enhancing productivity across the company.

Our Tech Stack

Java 11+, Spring Boot (MVC, JDBC, Security), PostgreSQL, Docker.

Team & Work Environment

• Team Composition: 2 Frontend Engineers, 1 Backend Engineer, 1 QA, and 1 Product Manager.
• Work Methodology: Agile (Scrum-based), including daily stand-ups, refinements, sprint planning, demos, and face-to-face meetings.
• Flexible Work Schedule: Sync meetings extend no later than 19:00 (GMT+2).

As a qualified expert, You will:

• Lead and manage the engineering team.
• Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication.
• Take full responsibility for product delivery and platform stability.
• Analyze requirements and contribute to the development of project features.
• Drive architectural and technical design decisions.
• Write and maintain high-quality code with unit and integration tests.
• Perform code reviews to ensure best practices and maintain code quality.
• Provide basic server troubleshooting when needed.

We’re looking for you if you have

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals (Algorithms, Data Structures, Performance Optimization).
• 4+ years of experience in Java development.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a Team Lead role.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and writing optimized database queries.
• Proficiency in Java fundamentals, OOP, and concurrency.
• Solid understanding of design patterns and their practical application.
• Experience working with RESTful Web Services.
• Languages: Ukrainian (fluent), English (Intermediate B1+).

Bonus Points

• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS).
• Hands-on knowledge of Docker.
• Familiarity with JUnit4, JUnit5, Mockito, Spring Test, and SpringBoot Test.
• Experience working on Gen AI tools.
• Experience in using Copilot, Cline, Roo, etc.
