Scala Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a US-based fintech company providing payments infrastructure for businesses. You will join an established cross-functional team working on a large-scale bank migration initiative. In this role, you will help build and maintain systems that power the client’s payments platform, from public APIs and user interfaces to internal operational systems and third-party integrations.

Your workflow will be well-balanced: approximately 70% focused on development and 30% on collaboration, mentoring, and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust applications using Scala, TypeScript, and C#.
• Build and maintain scalable event-driven microservices on AWS.
• Respond to bug reports, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system reliability.
• Review code and actively participate in architecture discussions.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to assist with requirements analysis and testing.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of hands-on application development using OOP or functional programming.
• Strong production-level experience with Scala (primary programming language).
• Upper-Intermediate or higher English level for effective communication with the US team.
• Solid understanding of distributed system design, including event-driven microservices, containerized applications, and service discovery.
• Hands-on experience with the AWS ecosystem (SQS, RabbitMQ, S3, RDS, Redis, DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS).
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Git, Jenkins, CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and an API-first development approach.
• Proven experience working in an Agile software development environment.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in fintech, payments, or banking sectors.
• Working knowledge of TypeScript and C#.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization.
