Python Architect (EU)

About the Project

We are looking for a Python Architect for our client to join a large-scale data platform transformation initiative.

The project involves migrating from Azure Synapse to a modern data stack built on Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, PySpark, and Spark SQL.

This is a hands-on Architect role for someone who combines strategic architectural thinking with strong engineering expertise. You will be responsible not only for designing solutions and making key technical decisions but also for actively participating in implementation. The role includes close collaboration with the Technical Lead and a significant impact on the future architecture of the platform.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

• Deep expertise in Python
• Hands-on experience with PySpark and Spark SQL
• Experience working with Azure Synapse
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture principles
• Experience with Delta Lake and/or Data Lake solutions
• Strong Solution Architecture skills
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar
• Ability to make, justify, and communicate technical decisions
• Experience building or transforming data platforms
• Previous experience in an Architect or Lead Engineer role

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric
• Familiarity with Databricks
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep
• Experience in fintech, blockchain, or adjacent technology domains

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve a modern data architecture based on the Spark/Python ecosystem
• Lead the migration from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric and Delta Lake
• Make key architectural and technology decisions
• Create technical specifications and provide guidance to the engineering team
• Collaborate closely with the Technical Lead and existing engineering team
• Evaluate and justify technology choices (e.g., Kafka vs RabbitMQ)
• Participate hands-on in development and implementation activities
