This project is about extension/customization of functionality of Apache Traffic Server (ATS). Apache Traffic Server™ is a high-performance web proxy cache that improves network efficiency and performance by caching frequently-accessed information at the edge of the network. This brings content physically closer to end users, while enabling faster delivery and reduced bandwidth use. Traffic Server is designed to improve content delivery for enterprises, Internet service providers (ISPs), backbone providers, and large intranets by maximizing existing and available bandwidth. Apache Traffic Server is a top-level project at the Apache Software Foundation.

Among the list of features and improvements which has to be implemented are:
• communication with the external “scanner” services which imply possibility to collect and send “data” which characterize certain connection and if it is necessary — interrupt it;
• extension of HTTP/2 protocol support in ATS;
• possibility to gather and analyze various aspects of encrypted traffic which is going through ATS
Extension of functionality is mostly implemented by means of plugins, i.e. loadable modules which use ATS plugin API to alter and extend ATS behavior.
