Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Be a leader and mentor for a team of up to 6 engineers
Maintain the team’s culture, health, and happiness
Be focused not only on personal performance but on the team performance
Set goals for the team, help them to exceed their goals and potential
Remove all blocks so the team can be efficient
Be a mentor for junior and middle-level developers
Be proactive, suggest and implement improvements where you see appropriate (in process, technology, product)
Control that the team follows the existing processes
Lead planning meetings and retrospectives

Product:
Analyze and provide feedback on product or customer requirements
Understand the context and use cases of all projects assigned to the team
Convert business requirements into technical with the team
Convert requirements into clearly described tickets for the developers
Track status of projects assigned to the team, be able to report on the status

Development:
Be an expert in technology that is used by the team
Suggest improvements in the architecture where appropriate
The review code was written by the team
Be the owner of the projects and the code developed by the team
Maintain consistency in technical solutions and in the code written by the team
Partner with other teams on bigger projects planning and development
Plan next iterations with team members and product owners
Estimate tickets with the team
Develop new features, debug reported bugs
Contribute high-quality code to the backend and frontend projects
Help teammates to solve technical issues, advise on better solutions if needed
Add a detailed explanation, steps for QA, documentation of developed features/fixes to Merge Requests and corresponding tickets

Desired Experience:
We are looking for an individual who has a deep knowledge of the Ruby on Rails and JavaScript frameworks, has developed scalable backend services, and has an agile approach to problem-solving.
You have:
5+ Years developing software in a commercial environment
3+ Years of Ruby Development
Experience in the mentorship of less experienced engineers
Experience with frontend frameworks (React)
Experience in building REST API, ideally using Grape
Experience in building integrations with third-party APIs via REST, SOAP, XMLRPC, etc.
Solid experience in building high-performance, reliable and scalable services
Would be a plus:
Experience with Elasticsearch
Experience with Go, AWS, Docker, K8s, GitLab CI
Shipping/transportation industry experience
