SET University is a Ukrainian non-profit tech university that provides world-class higher education and grows the next generation of Ukraine’s tech talent.
Together with Hilltop Technologies LLC (HT) SET University created a cybersecurity tech startup with deep ties in the blockchain, tech, and government spaces. Our purpose is to serve higher education institutions, small to medium-sized enterprises, and entities who are disadvantaged in their ability to protect themselves from increasing security threats due to cost-prohibitive services and capabilities.

The Role
As a Front-End Developer at Hilltop Technologies, you will be responsible for designing and implementing user-facing features for our cybersecurity platforms. You will collaborate closely with our back-end developers, UX/UI designers, and product managers to create seamless, responsive, and visually appealing interfaces. This role requires proficiency in front-end technologies, along with a strong understanding of back-end frameworks, particularly Python. Experience with Golang is preferred, and familiarity with Django and Flask is essential. This position will be based in our Ukrainian office, with the possibility of remote work as needed.

Objectives of this Role
— Develop and maintain responsive, user-friendly web interfaces that enhance the user experience of our cybersecurity platforms.
— Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with server-side logic.
— Work closely with UX/UI designers to implement design concepts that meet user needs and align with our brand.
— Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using front-end technologies and frameworks.
— Optimize web applications for speed and scalability.
— Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards and best practices are followed.
— Troubleshoot and debug issues across various browsers and devices.
— Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our front-end capabilities.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
— Design and implement new features and enhancements for our cybersecurity web applications.
— Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end systems.
— Optimize the performance of existing web applications, focusing on responsiveness and load times.
— Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.
— Conduct thorough testing of web applications to identify and fix bugs and compatibility issues.
— Provide input on the design and architecture of new features, ensuring they are feasible and aligned with technical goals.
— Create and maintain documentation for front-end code and processes.
— Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and practices.

Skills and Qualifications
— Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
— 1-2 years of experience in front-end development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
— Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
— Strong understanding of Python and experience with frameworks like Django and Flask.
— Familiarity with Golang (preferred) for back-end integration.
— Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrating them into front-end applications.
— Solid understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
— Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
— Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
— Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
— Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications
— Experience in the cybersecurity industry or with security-focused applications.
— Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools.
— Experience with front-end testing frameworks and tools.
— Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
— Ability to contribute to back-end development when needed, particularly with Golang and Python.
