We are looking for an optical engineer who has practical experience with lens modeling in Zemax. You will work in an image quality laboratory with high standards equipment. You will be involved in close cooperation with the lens manufacturer. You have to be neat and tidy to keep the laboratory standards and achieve quality tests results.
— Provide technical leadership in the area of optical system design for Ring’s global product development teams
— Simulate and design optical components using both sequential and non-sequential ray optics, scalar wave optics, and electromagnetic theory
— Perform design reviews of the new and current Ring products, effectively balancing their performance and manufacturability
— Perform statistical tolerancing and robust design for optical components
— Plan process routes for seamless and cost-effective manufacturing and assembly of optical and optomechanical systems, and provide the necessary specifications
— Collaborate with the prototyping and metrology teams to develop test plans for manufacturing
— Evaluate, design and test optical elements (coating, bandpass filters, Fresnel lenses, light sensors, etc.)
— Successfully meet contradictory requirements, such as performance of optical and optomechanical systems and their cost-effective production
— Perform troubleshooting and problem identification
— MS or Ph.D. in Optical Sciences, Optical Physics or related field with +3 years of relevant experience
— Strong electrical engineering background
— Hands-on skills for basic optical design tools such as Zemax, ASAP, VirtualLab or Code
— Good understanding of basic optical components: imaging optics, waveguides, diffractive optics, and thin films
— Ability to learn easily new methods of optical designing
— Good time management and organization skills to complete projects on time and to specification
— Good written and spoken English
