Our product teams cover all aspects of SW development and QA of Ring products and solutions. We are in charge of firmware, hardware, mobile applications and backend development. We are looking for an optical engineer who has practical experience of working with simulation tools such as Zemax as well as lens, LEDs and other optical components assessment. You will work in an image quality laboratory with industry top class equipment. You will be involved in close cooperation with the leading lens vendors and contract manufacturers to design and deliver top industry Camera products.
— Provide technical leadership in the area of optical system design for Ring’s global product development teams
— Perform design reviews of the new and current Ring products, effectively balancing their performance and manufacturability
— Perform statistical tolerancing and robust design for optical components
— Plan process routes for seamless and cost-effective manufacturing and assembly of optical and optomechanical systems, and provide the necessary specifications
— Collaborate with the prototyping and metrology teams to develop test plans for manufacturing
— Successfully meet contradictory requirements, such as performance of optical and optomechanical systems and their cost-effective production
— Perform troubleshooting and problem identification
— Evaluate, design and test optical elements (lightguides, lenses, Fresnel lenses, LED optics)
— Specify, select and qualify optical and lighting components
— Perform simulations and design optical components using both sequential and non-sequential raytrace methods
— MS or Ph.D. in Optical Sciences, Optical Physics or related field with +3 years of relevant experience
— Strong electrical engineering background
— Hands-on skills for basic optical design tools such as Zemax (preferred), LightTools, ASAP or Code V
— Good understanding of basic optical components: imaging optics, lightguides, diffractive optics, and thin films
— Ability to learn easily new methods of optical designing and testing
— Good time management and organization skills to complete projects on time and to specification
— Good written and spoken English
