Completed the test task, and was invited to a technical interview, unfortunately, the technical interview was canceled because they already offered a final candidate. That’s a pity recruiting case.
Yaroslava, thank you a lot for your feedback. We strive to make communication with the candidates as smooth and respectful as possible. In this case, we didn’t want to take more of your time or give any false expectations as we filled the position, so we finished the process and apologise for that. Thanks for your time and best of luck with further professional advancements!
If you want to be part of a company that has a strong culture of sharing knowledge, gives effective feedback that actually guides you to do a better job, has all the processes in place that are working, Railsware is it.
The hiring process might seem long and it is. But in the end you get to work with a team of the best people who are really great at what they do.
Plus the products the company makes are really cool and bring actual value to the tech world.
I’ve been working in Railsware for about 4.5 years. Since that time I have grown my skills in different areas — technical, management, soft.
There are fair relationships as everything that we agreed on initially came true. I’m flexible in choosing what to work from (yeah, currently everybody does this but it was like that since the beginning) and when to work. There are some team agreements and rules but in general I’m free to adjust my schedule.
The company encourages involvement into different processes — T-shape growing. Up to your preference you can grow multiple directions. So, after 2.5 years I began participating in hiring processes doing full day interviews and people’s technical onboarding.
A feedback culture allows you to understand your weak sides and actually boosts learning. And the last one is challenging tasks from different perspectives as I’m able to work with different languages and on different architecture level.
When I talk about Railsware with my friends, they usually don’t believe me. This company is a hard to find gem, and I don’t regret about any effort I put into the process of getting here.
Main pros:
* Flat structure, your level of decision making as way beyond anything you might expect in any place except startups; at the same time, Railsware is a mature company, with well set up processes (though are in continious improvement cycle), so no start up ruzh and unstability.
* Ability to work fully remote
* Great professionals everywhere, no pushing and pulling, but things are moving ahead
* Great compensation and benefits packages
* These guys know what is work/life balance ;)
As for cons: The process of getting here is pretty tough and requires a lot of time from a candidate. However, it worth it. And from inside, it is great to know, that everyone around are managed to go through this process, which guarantees great team work and overall result.
Being with Railsware 3 years I can strongly say that this is the best company so far in my life!
I really like the vibe, smart people, interesting projects, and absolute freedom in my work!
It might be hard to join the company, and it takes some effort in the beginning, but you’ll not regret!
The company is remote-driven (we still do have offices in Kyiv & Krakow), and I can easily plan the day how I want!
The comprehensive package of support is on Railsware, and I don’t need to worry about my health insurance, gym, home office, education, or any other perks!
These 3 years were damn good and full of bright moments, unforgettable team gatherings in different locations & life-changing experiences!
If you’re looking for stable growth, freedom in everything what you do, a place to experiment — Railsware is the right choice!
I’d like to share my great attitude To Valeria Gromtseva (Talent Manager) at Railsware for just being a real professional! I believe Railsware will once become a unicorn while there are such people working in this company!
Railsware is the company, which guided me to the IT industry :) I’m very happy that I did not turn away and started my path here (kudos to Sergey:)
What I like the most about Railsware is people. The team consists of different professionals who can (and will) share their experience with others. The friendly environment within the company is a great asset I believe.
I have been working here for 4 months and I’m really proud to be a part of this company. The interview process was smooth, there were no stupid questions like `Where do you see yourself in 100500 years`, only real life tasks. I was pleasantly surprised with the onboarding process, I started from the smaller tasks, had pair programming sessions, which helped me a lot, so I didn’t feel pressure during the first few months. I have flexible hours and can take day off whenever I need, also we have a lot of different online/offline events.
I’ve been looking for a good company for so long that I almost quit programming. Glad, that we found each other and I can finally apply my skills to build interesting products.
I am working as Data Analyst at Railsware. For me it’s an ideal place to work: I have freedom of movement, schedule, projects to work on. The team is welcoming and always ready to help. Hiring process may seem tough but it leads to a great team ready to build great products :)
The company asked my to create an end-to-end solution (investigate and understand a problem, requirements, mockups, roadmap and pitch for the client) without talking to me. That’s the first step of the process: before a screening interview, before I had a chance to ask questions about the position and my responsibilities. This approach raises “red flag” for me.
Additionally: according to Viktor (see the comment below) “the hire to ‘no hire’ rate ranges from 1:30 to 1:100”, so you can calculate the ROI on this test task.
Dear Roman,
Thank you for your feedback about our hiring process.
Sorry to see you stating us not giving you a chance to discuss your questions. Especially, after my proposal to discuss those and you declining to ask.
Yes, we do expect candidates to solve a complex task as their future work will about solving complex issues. Of course, you have the right to decline, we do not force candidates to complete our test tasks if they don’t want.
And about the ROI, we are happy with hiring outstanding employees who stay with us for 5+ years even investing more time in their recruitment. In the end, if you actually calculate your investments in the more complicated and thorough selection process it will be still less compared to blind one-time recruitment. This is applicable both to employers and candidates who save up to 3 months of their time with the wrong company that negatively affects their CVs and forces them to search for a job again.
Do not waste your time doing their test tasks. Company would use you to solve their business issues for free.
When I was searching for a company to join and further develop my career, Railsware has driven my attention by its attitude to the services they provide and the products they build. They practice a systematic, lean, and feedback-driven approach to both software consultancy and internal processes. Also, I love the “great products through great teams and awesome culture” motto. As an example, the hire to “no hire” rate ranges from 1:30 to 1:100. Basically, it’s “quality over quantity” and it perfectly matches my own values.
As for the details of work, I like that while there is a discipline to use some company-wide tools and approaches, project teams are free to invent their own solutions in particular cases, it gives a feeling of flexibility and freedom. Collaboration and collective effort are also truly honored here, from product design to technical aspects of the implementation. Teams are small, fast-going, self-disciplined, mastering both engineering craft and value their products bring. Railsware is a data- and automation-driven company. Last but not the least is true remote-friendliness: it literally makes no difference where are you working from, and the company provides you with all the necessary hardware even if you are a remote worker.
My journey at Railsware has just begun but I already love the place, the people, the culture and I expect more interesting and challenging stuff to come while working here.
Recently I’ve had an experience of going through interview process in Railsware. These are guys with wonderful product, they are winners in their niche. All stages of interview were conducted in super friendly atmosphere, they appreciate openness and constructive criticism. If you get chosen here, it means you are 5 heads ahead the whole world. If you don’t — it means you have to educate yourself either in emotional intelligence or in your hard skills. They are lucky to have an out-of-the-box leader who with his own hands goes and does staff if it needs to be done. Highly recommended!
