About the role

The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting platform’s leadership with rapid, targeted analyses of scholarly information. Working closely with the Head of the company and the wider team, the analyst will provide evidence-based insights to guide strategic decisions, identify opportunities, and monitor the quality and comprehensiveness of the company`s services.

The role requires a strong ability to process and interpret large volumes of data quickly, to produce clear analyses, charts, and reports, and to answer specific business and research-related questions as they arise. Importantly, the outputs of these analyses will often need to go beyond descriptive summaries and provide actionable insights that directly inform decision-making at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver rapid, targeted data analyses supporting company leadership.
• Evaluate company’s data comprehensiveness, freshness, and coverage across disciplines and repositories.
• Benchmark company’s datasets and services, assess and monitor their quality
• Conduct analysis to support leadership in understanding other available scholarly datasets, how they can be used to improve company services and how they differ from it quantitatively. .
• Analyse customer datasets and usage patterns to inform service development and improvement.
• Identify and investigate data quality issues, inconsistencies, and gaps.
• Produce analyses that provide clear, actionable insights to support company’s strategic direction.
• Present findings in clear and concise formats (tables, graphs, reports) tailored to decision-making needs.
• Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources (APIs, repositories, internal databases).
• Proactively spot trends, anomalies, or risks in data and escalate findings with recommendations.
• Contribute analytical evidence to strategic reports, presentations, and stakeholder communications.

Skills and experience

• Ideally a PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (if masters degree than at least 3 years equivalent experience in a data analytical position)
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
• Experience with data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., desirable Apache Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data structures.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
