OMD Systems is expanding its engineering team and looking for a Technical Writer who will develop high-quality technical documentation for complex hardware and software products. We work with integrated solutions that include mechanical, electrical, and software components. Your role will be essential in ensuring that our users, partners, and internal teams understand and utilize our products effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Create clear, accurate, and structured documentation for mechanical, electrical, and software-based products.
- Develop user-facing documentation:
- User Manuals, Quick Start Guides, Safety Instructions
- Service & Maintenance Manuals
- Assembly & Calibration Guides
- Prepare technical documentation for developers and engineering teams:
- API & SDK documentation
- Firmware/Software Release Notes
- Internal documentation for engineering, QA, production
- Collaborate closely with engineers, developers, and product teams to gather technical information.
- Create compliance-related documentation (e.g., CE, FCC, ISO, State Service for Special Communications).
- Maintain document structure, versioning, and consistency across product lines.
- Ensure documentation meets technical, regulatory, and usability standards.
Requirements
Education / Technical Background
- Degree in technical sciences, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Professional Experience
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, Engineer, Technical Editor, or similar role.
- Experience working in companies involved in:
- mechanical and electrical assembly
- hardware/software integrated systems
- R&D or manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of production workflows is an advantage.
Language & Communication Skills
- Strong command of technical English (required).
- Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise documentation.
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to adapt style for various audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and technical teams.
Analytical & Organizational Skills
- Ability to structure large volumes of information logically and clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and documentation types simultaneously.
Tools & Technologies (a plus)
- Experience with documentation tools (Markdown, Confluence, Notion, DITA, Git).
- Basic understanding of software development or firmware principles.
- Familiarity with CAD drawings, electrical diagrams, or production documentation.
