• Administration of a RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or PostgreSQL
• Database performance and Familiarity with Linux
• The Database Administrator has proven working experience with Postgres for at least 2 years
• Design / construction of physical data structures in a database management system, including device allocations, load optimization, validation checking, system security, and access methods
• Implementation of backup, high-availability, replication and recovery procedures
• Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory
• Tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
• Meaningful scripting experience in shell, Perl, Python, Ruby or other modern scripting language
• Background in building of a large infrastructure supporting a high volume of transactions in a mission critical environment
• Exceptional experience administering multi-Terabyte databases
• Familiarity of configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, or Ansible)
• Deep understanding of database applications of NFS and NAS appliances
• Basic understanding of layer 2/layer 3 networking
• Relevant experience with monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zenoss, Sensu, Groundwork, and/or Splunk
• LDAP experience (OpenLDAP, DSEE, OpenDirectory)

• Familiarity with various NoSQL solutions, experience with Cassandra
• RHEL/CentOS
• Knowledge of PI/PgSQL

The key tasks of our new team member will be to:
• Analyze existing DB used in the solution (Oracle) and propose improvements to scalability and performance
• Based on this analysis come up with redesign strategy to move from Oracle to PostgreSQL and, partly, no-SQL DBs
• Design high-level architecture of the future DB based on PostgreSQL, point out key limitations of such switch (performance, scalability, consistency, etc.), propose optimization approaches to mitigate defined limitations
• Work with Java development team to optimize application-DB load allocation and improve SQL-queries efficiency
• Participate in the overall design efforts of the architecture, oversee the implementation

We are looking for a highly professional Database Architect, to join the architecture team of the company’s Rating and Billing Solution, high-load, high availability solution for large telcos, designed to perform hundreds of thousands tps. As part of our long-term strategy we intend to switch most operations from Oracle to PostgreSQL, introduce state-of-the-art scalability in terms of both performance and consistency, and come up with a fully hybrid-native microservice-based architecture.
