Application Architect (вакансія неактивна)

за кордоном, віддалено

This role is for a hands-on Application Architect who wants genuine ownership — driving key architectural decisions and directly influencing how a modern US e-commerce platform is built and evolves. You’ll lead three parallel workstreams (legacy ColdFusion -> Angular/.NET migration, on-prem -> Azure re-platforming, and a greenfield Order Management System) and you’ll do it in a team that treats AI-augmented engineering as a first-class skill. If you live in Claude Code and ChatGPT, co-author PRDs with BAs, and can turn a spec into a working prototype in a couple of days, this is the seat for you.

About the project:

Leading national online destination for durable medical equipment (DME), As part of its ongoing commitment to customer experience, performance, and scalability, is modernizing its custom-built e-commerce platform by migrating from Adobe ColdFusion to a modern Angular frontend with a .NET Core backend.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience with .NET / C# (.NET 8+), of which 3+ in an Architect or Lead role on production e-commerce or large-scale transactional systems
  • Clean Architecture and CQRS (MediatR, Dapper, Hangfire, Polly)
  • Strong practical command of Clean Architecture/Vertical Slice, CQRS, and integration patterns (MediatR, Dapper, Hangfire/Quartz, Polly, MassTransit / Service Bus)
  • Solid experience with Angular (latest LTS) — able to guide frontend architecture, review code, and pair with the UI team on storefront migration
  • Proven Azure architecture experience: App Service / Container Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Key Vault, Application Insights, Azure DevOps CI/CD; IaC with Bicep or Terraform
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering Order Management/e-commerce backends (catalog, pricing, cart, checkout, payments, fulfillment, returns)
  • Mandatory: practical Agentic / AI-Augmented Engineering experience — daily use of Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or equivalent for code generation, refactoring, code review, and rapid prototyping; familiarity with spec-driven / PRD-driven AI workflows (e.g., BMAD-METHOD, Spec-Kit, or similar)
  • Ability to co-author PRDs with Business Analysts, decompose them into technical specs / ADRs, and produce a working prototype within days using AI coding agents
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms (ColdFusion, classic ASP.NET, or similar monolith → modern stack) and migrating workloads from on-prem to Azure is a strong plus
  • Strong written and verbal English (Upper-Intermediate / Advanced) — must communicate confidently with US-based product, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfort working as the technical face of the engagement: leading discovery sessions, presenting trade-offs to the client, and making and defending architectural decisions
  • Comfort working with distributed teams and collaborating with US-based clients

Responsibilities:

  • Migration of the legacy ColdFusion e-commerce platform to a modern Angular storefront served with a .NET 8+ backend
  • Lift-and-shift / re-platforming of the existing system from on-prem to Azure (target architecture, landing zone, IaC, CI/CD, cutover plan)
  • Greenfield design and delivery of a new Order Management System (OMS) and future engagement projects to onboard franchise and corporate stores
  • Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, ChatGPT, Copilot) to rapidly prototype concepts, validate integration approaches, and accelerate the team’s delivery velocity
  • Define and enforce engineering standards: branching strategy, code review, testing pyramid, observability, security/PCI-DSS posture
  • Hands-on contribution: write production code on critical paths (auth, checkout, OMS core), unblock the team, lead spikes
  • Lead technical discovery and refinement sessions with the client; present architectural options and trade-offs to both engineering and business stakeholders
  • Mentor the .NET and Angular engineers; raise the bar on AI-augmented development practices across the team

Team:

From our side: 1 PM, 1 BA, 3 devs

From the client side: 1 .Net full-stack dev, 3 ColdFusion devs, BA

TechStack:

  • Legacy: Adobe ColdFusion, SQL Server (on-prem)
  • Target: .NET 8 (C#), Angular (latest LTS), Azure SQL / SQL MI, Azure App Service / Container Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure DevOps
  • Data access: EF Core + Dapper hybrid
  • Observability: Application Insights, Elastic APM, Bugsnag
  • AI tooling expected in daily workflow: Claude / Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot

Schedule: 5/2, 8-hour working day (40 hr per week), flexible schedule. Ability to interact with New York time zone at least 4 hours a day

Hiring process: HR interview + Technical Interview
