About Us

We are an early-stage start-up, based in London, with a solid product-market fit, impressive growth rates and a user base spread across the US, Europe and Australia.

Founded in 2018, Koinly is used by thousands of cryptocurrency investors, accountants and blockchain businesses and is also the preferred tax partner for a number of leading cryptocurrency exchanges. We are building tools to enable the widespread adoption of cryptocurrency by automating the regulatory hurdles of tax compliance and asset tracking.

About the role:

We are looking for a Lead Ruby developer with at least 4 years of experience to join and lead our Backend team. This is a fully remote position. You will be working primarily on the backend, writing clean, well-tested code.

We have an ambitious product road map and require a developer who has solid analytical skills and experience working on scaling ruby apps.


  • 5+ years experience as a ruby or full-stack developer.
  • Worked on high-performance scalable SaaS apps
  • Good understanding of Postgres, graphql and performance optimizations
  • Ability to debug technical issues and solve problems effectively.
  • Explaining technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Agile development methodologies and code reviews.

Bonus points if:

  • You have an interest in cryptocurrencies or financial products
  • You have experience with React
  • You have open Source Contribution(s) to boast of
  • Your experience with building web applications includes performant, data-intensive apps with large datasets (hundreds of millions of rows)
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject.
  • You have worked with tools such as new Relic to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • You have experience with time-series databases (timescale, influx)
