Important technical skills are heavily biased towards AWS. An ideal candidate would have experience not just with VMs but with a number of the SaaS services they provide like RDS, EMR, Lambda, ALBs, SQS/Kinesis, etc.
The important soft-skills: active listening and verifying a shared understanding of the problem, asking clarifying questions, and providing explanations for decisions (technical/etc).

The project with Ruby on Rails main tech stack, changing the way of reading in the world. A product gives users/customers access to the world’s largest online library of books, audiobooks, sheet music, news, and magazines.
The team is responsible for keeping the product, responsive, and secure. All duties include configuration management with Chef, coordinating Kubernetes, big-data cluster wrangling with Hadoop, mitigating the logo-branded vulnerability du jour, wearing a DBA hat to the InnoDB rodeo, bomb-proofing the mad science lab that is our codebase and, very occasionally, sweeping up the pieces when everything blows up (the team doesn’t let that last happen often).
The team works on almost every part of our application stack, from the servers and storage through the databases and caches to the application itself. Members of the team write the code ourselves, and developers also come to us for technical guidance. You’ll not simply operate the systems, but be part of the system-building process from the start.
