AI Runtime and Vector Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an AI Runtime and Vector Engineer to help build next-generation agent infrastructure on PostgreSQL.

You will work on Agent Hub, Agent Memory, MCP, and vector/retrieval infrastructure, helping turn PostgreSQL into a first-class platform for AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the agent management framework using PostgreSQL as a durable runtime.
• Build internal agents and vector/retrieval infrastructure supporting agent memory and tool use.
• Develop reusable patterns that customers can adopt for their own AI agents.
• Contribute to agent orchestration and runtime infrastructure.
• Evolve evaluation frameworks for agent quality, memory recall, and end-to-end agentic workflows.
• Deploy and operate AI and database services on AWS or GCP.
• Collaborate with engineers to build scalable and production-ready AI infrastructure.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Python.
• Experience with at least one of: Rust, Go, or C/C++.
• Experience with an agent framework or pattern such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, or equivalent.
• Understanding of tool use, retrieval, planning, and agent memory.
• SQL and database engineering experience.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.
• Experience with AWS or GCP.

Nice to Have

• Experience with production agent memory systems.
• Experience with MCP, tool registries, or agent orchestration.
• Experience with AI governance or observability.
• PostgreSQL extension development in C or Rust.
• Experience with information retrieval, knowledge graphs, or ML/AI evaluation.
