Requirements

• Good System Engineering or System Administration experience;
• Understanding of Vertica DB architecture;
• Experience administration of Vertica DB — at least 2 years;
• Strong SQL and query optimization;
• Experience setting up highly scalable redundant systems in
  production;
• Python — 2 years experience;
• Team player, high motivation and ability to work in flexible
  hours;
• Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
• Familiarity with public cloud and distributed systems concepts;
• Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and
  tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large production environment including various,
  databases, Bigdata system, etc.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting issues such as slowness in the
  cluster, heavy load, slow queries;
• Monitor and improve by establishing metrics and dashboards;
• 24/7 support — on call required;
• Regularly communicate complex technical issues, solutions, and
  designs to a wide variety of audiences;
• Work closely with various operations and engineering teams to
  troubleshoot issues;
• Work closely with analysts, developers, and operations staff.
