Our client is a Ukrainian independent studio creating immersive ARPG projects with deep worlds, a complex combat system, and inspiration from Ukrainian mythology. They work within a dark fantasy aesthetic, blending gothic realism, mythological imagery, and a systems-driven approach to gameplay. They’re looking for an Lead Unreal Engine Engineer who will take technical ownership of the project: architecture, code quality, systems development, and coordination of the developer team.

Requirements:
— 5+ years of commercial game development experience, including 2+ years as a Senior / Lead Unreal Developer.
— Strong hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 (Nanite, Lumen, World Partition, Enhanced Input).
— Experience working on AA and/or AAA game projects with production-grade pipelines and quality standards.
— Deep knowledge of C++ and Blueprint architecture.
— Experience building scalable gameplay systems.
— Proven performance optimization experience in UE projects.
— Understanding of architecture patterns, component-based systems, and the UE gameplay framework.
— Experience with AI (Behavior Trees, State Machines, EQS is a plus).
— System thinking and ability to make technical decisions with future scalability in mind.
— Working English proficiency(B2+) for internal documentation and communication.

Nice to Have:
— Experience with ARPG / Soulslike / action-RPG projects.
— Understanding of animation pipelines (root motion, blend spaces, animation blueprints).
— Experience integrating UI, VFX, audio, and gameplay systems.
— Shipped at least one mid-core or large-scale project.
— Interest in Ukrainian mythology, dark fantasy, and atmospheric narrative worlds.

Responsibilities:
— Define and maintain the project’s technical architecture in Unreal Engine 5.
— Lead the UE developer team: task assignment, code reviews, and implementation quality control.
— Design and implement key gameplay systems: combat logic, characters, abilities, AI, interactions.
— Work with both C++ and Blueprints at production level (not prototyping).
— Optimize performance (CPU/GPU, memory, level streaming).
— Collaborate with Game Designers, Level Designers, Artists, and Animators to ensure proper integration of mechanics and content.
— Establish and maintain internal technical standards, pipelines, and documentation.
— Participate in sprint planning, feature estimation, and technical risk assessment.
— Review prototypes and test builds, participate in internal playtests.
