Senior Python Engineer/SRE [Ukraine] (вакансія неактивна)

We are looking for a unicorn with a combination of Senior Python Engineer and SRE skills to join the team that helps our client to develop the Travel & Hospitality solution.

As a Senior Python Engineer/SRE, you will live on the front lines of the product the client creates and builds features used by millions of people every day.

A person in this role will work hand-to-hand with the existing client’s team to increase the strength of its non-SQL DB division and its ability to deploy, maintain and troubleshoot NoSQL DBs (Cassandra and Elasticsearch).

So, some operational work is expected with hand on experience with bare metal servers and troubleshooting DB issues, but the client has an extremely high level of automation, and a huge share of activities will be devoted to development in Python.

There are a lot of advantages of the position:
— Unique setup with one of the biggest Cassandra DB clusters in the world: 400 clusters of 15-20 Pb of data;
— High level of process automation, like cluster creation, metrics, scripts, backups, etc.;
— Ability to participate in research, discussions, and decisions on software architecture, solution design and internal coding, architectural, process, and other standards;
— Challenging creative tasks like cloud (AWS) migration and defining the supported DB(s) will replace the current open-source setup and lead the migration;
— Ability to get deep infrastructure and DB skills;
— Multinational team with a funk-based culture, all stakeholders are friendly and polite.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute toward the backend development of automation tools and help to increase the strength of the non-SQL DB division and deploy, maintain and troubleshoot services like Cassandra or Elastic Search
• Develop, test, and release elegant software systems that are robust and scalable production ready using the latest technologies
• E2E responsibility for the solution. From the analysis and solution design to the support (on-call if needed) and critical bug troubleshooting
• Hand-to-hand work as a part of the client team
• Analyze and estimate implementation efforts of DB-related initiatives
• Implement, review, support, and debug required tools/functionality
• Hand-on works with servers
• Troubleshoot Cassandra/Elastic DB issues

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of software engineering experience in Python
• Knowledge of NoSQL DBs
• Hands-on servers/DBs maintenance/setup
• Support/design of scalable solutions experience
• Familiar and hands-on experience with DB support metrics
• Experience with distributed systems design and/or initial infrastructure deployment/DevOps experience
• Good communication skills, ability to drive architecture and requirements discussions
• Good spoken and written English level

NICE TO HAVE

• Migration experience to AWS (other clouds) is a big plus as well as the client initiated a mega-project to migrate infrastructure to AWS
• Apache Elastic Search or(/and) Cassandra DB support/setup experience is a big plus
• DynamoDB / AstraDB
