Junior/Middle Firmware Engineer (Lviv)

Project Summary

Domain: Physical access control / smart lock hardware — embedded firmware development for a security-focused client in the door hardware and access control industry.

Scope: Firmware development for battery-powered, wirelessly connected lock/access-control devices, covering low-level peripheral control, secure credential handling (BLE/NFC-based mobile and card access), and integration with cloud reporting/OTA infrastructure.

Must Have:

• 1+ years of professional experience
• BS in CS/EE/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong C/C++ for microcontrollers.
• Peripheral-level work — I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO
• Debugging tooling — JTAG/SWD, logic analyzer, oscilloscope.
• Git-based workflow, code review discipline
• English B1+

Soft Skills Requirements:

• Willingness to work closely with the firmware & hardware team
• Participate and communicate politely at daily meetings (minimum 1-2 hours per day)
• Comfortable working in a distributed team across time zones

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop firmware for microcontrollers.
• Support board bring-up and low-level debugging.
• Optimize firmware for performance, reliability, and power efficiency.
• Contribute to firmware architecture and coding standards.
• Work closely with the technical writer to ensure the code is properly documented.
  

Would be a plus:

• CAN buss protocol
• Embedded security fundamentals — secure boot, encrypted storage, key management
• Embedded Linux
