Senior Manual/Automation Test Engineer (z/OS) (вакансія неактивна)

We’re opening the position of a Senior Manual/Automation Test Engineer (z/OS) to work on our Client’s product which is a set of connectivity capabilities used by internal on-premises products as well as cloud services. This suite also includes a number of mainframe (z/OS) specific components that allow for data extractions from many of the most common databases (Adabas, Datacom, Db2, IDMS, IMS, VSAM & Sequential Files) on the Mainframe (z/OS) platform. Using the in-built capabilities of this product, a definition can be created which allows non-relational data to be accessed in a more relational context, providing additional filtering and formatting options which help the consumer application process data correctly. Product Mainframe (z/OS) connector allows access to data “in-place” directly from the database or file systems (batch access); also, it allows to have the capability to review database logs so as to provide just the changes to the underlying database (changed data capture) with complete restart-ability built in, should failures occur and recovery is necessary from the point of last know extraction.

Expectations from the Candidate:

When there are changes to Mainframe (z/OS) infrastructure which may include new operating system versions, security updates, new database versions, or even customer requested enhancements, our Client will provide an updated release of all of application connectivity suite. Before being released, the connectivity suite needs to be thoroughly tested not only within the product suite itself but also to any related Customer’s products (on-premises or cloud) to ensure functionality is correct and has not been regressed since the last released version. Automation of testing is high on our priority list, as such where test cases don’t already exist then they would need to be defined and included for subsequent testing needs, this is done working closely with the developers but ultimately is the responsibility of the QA team.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze the requirements
• Create and execute test plans, cases, and scripts
• Identify and log defects with detailed documentation
• Perform functional, regression, and integration testing
• Collaborate with Developers to resolve issues and improve quality
• Automate test cases where applicable
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes
• Focus on product connectivity (TCP/IP data transfers, Security authentication, Compression & Encryption, EBCDIC to ASCII data conversions, Custom User Interface for batch and Changa)
• Extract metadata using original COBOL & PL/1 application file definitions
• Configure specific connectivity options to each of the supported mainframe connectors
• Perform validation of Data extraction in both batch and changed data capture modes, including recovery as necessary

Requirements:

• Solid knowledge of z/OS Db2 (min 5 years working on Db2, ideally to DBA proficiency, covering all things Db2 (table manipulation, SQL, IFI306, Db2 compression, encryption etc..)
• Ability to work competently with z/OS JCL and Db2 utilities
• Ability to help create test scenarios & test automations
• Solid knowledge of z/OS IMS (min 5 years working on IMS, ideally to DBA proficiency, covering all things IMS (Catalogue usage, table manipulation, SQL, logging mechanisms, compression, encryption etc..)
• Ability to work competently with z/OS JCL and IMS utilities (IBM & BMC)
• Ability to help create test scenarios & test automations
• Solid knowledge of z/OS VSAM (min 5 years working on VSAM covering all things VSAM (File manipulation whether RRN, ESDS, KSDS etc. use of VSAM exits, compression & encryption options etc..)
• Understanding VSAM when working in a CICS environment, including CICS Transaction handler
• Ability to work competently with z/OS JCL and VSAM utilities
• Ability to help create test scenarios & test automations
• English level — Upper-Intermediate or higher
