Евгений Гейман, JS Full-Stack

The company Eastern Peak wasted my time. I passed all technical questions and solved the live coding task, but I was rejected because I couldn’t explain the algorithm’s efficiency O(n). I’ll admit, honestly, I can’t do that for every task. I either solve problems — or I don’t. And it doesn’t change the fact that I’m a good engineer. I also offered a home test assessment. But who cares?

Dear Eugene,
We appreciate your feedback and understand that you may have had a different perception of our interview process, despite the detailed feedback and explanations that were provided to you.

Each product and position is unique, and we recognize that customer expectations can vary. Our goal is always to understand the specific requirements for each role, which also helps save candidates’ time.

In your case, while you completed the live coding task quickly, it was noted that you had difficulty articulating your rationale behind the chosen approach. You only mentioned that this is how your brain works: “Sometimes you can just solve a task on the fly in a performant way, and sometimes not.”

However, considering that this particular customer places importance on both solving challenges and clearly explaining one’s approach by candidates, we have decided not to recommend you for this position at this time. Knowing the customer’s expectations, this decision seemed quite logical to us since you struggled to explain your chosen approach, but we see that it was not logical for you...

I apologize if our detailed feedback and explanation were offensive to you. Wishing you all the best in finding a workplace that truly fulfills you.
