As a Lead System Database Administrator, you’ll oversee, secure, and optimize our database environments across production and non-production settings. In this role, you’ll own impactful, high-stakes projects in a dynamic environment, using cutting-edge maintenance strategies to ensure peak application performance.
What you’ll do as a Lead System DBA
- Maintain, monitor, and secure the organization’s production and non-production PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL databases in high-volume, multi-instance environments.
- Utilize state-of-the-art concepts and employ advanced maintenance techniques to maximize application availability.
- Proactively oversee database health, performance, and integrity, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Define and implement an effective database backup and data retention strategy.
- Participate in the assessment, implementation, migration, and testing of database tools and third-party products, including upgrades to newer database versions.
- Provide on-call support for production environments on a shared DBA rotation.
- Provide 24/7 support for various activities including Database maintenance, Application Releases, Application Database upgrades, DBMS upgrades, and Disaster Recovery.
What you’ll bring
- Solid knowledge of SQL Server and MongoDB infrastructures, including index management and database components.
- Skilled in performance tuning, query optimization, and monitoring and troubleshooting tools for enhanced database efficiency.
- Proficiency with AWS or Google Cloud, and experience in cloud-based database management and deployment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to users in both written and verbal English.
- Coding ability in languages such as T-SQL, Python, Ansible, or PowerShell, supporting database automation and scripting needs.
