We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud / DevOps Engineer to join our IT leadership team.
You will work closely with Cloud Architects to design, implement, and maintain a scalable, secure, and reliable AWS infrastructure, ensuring service excellence and supporting ongoing operations.
The role also includes incident management and problem resolution across the AWS stack, requiring deep expertise in cloud technologies and AWS components.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist in producing and delivering cost effective, stable, scalable and supportable designs and solutions for projects within the AWS stack
- Provide Incident escalation and Problem resolution support for key systems and supporting cloud infrastructure
- Install and configure new or upgrades to systems in line with defined procedures and standards and with minimum impact to the business.
- To share AWS technical skills and AWS best practice within the immediate team and the wider technology organisation.
- Undertake any further duties determined as reasonable and necessary in fulfilment of the role.
- Ensure that all environments conform to appropriate internal standards, including the ongoing management of patching, monitoring, etc.
- Provide proactive Capacity & Demand management for all core environments.
- Input into the overall technology strategy by understanding the capabilities and limitations of various hosting strategies — focusing on cloud/hosted technologies working with the Cloud Architect to recommend appropriate roadmap solutions.
- Provide “best practice” guidance to the wider Technology function relating to environment usage, control and management, including the use of appropriate tooling to aid test and deployment automation.
- Work to and maintain security standards/policies, ensuring the tooling is maintained across stack
- Be part of the DevOps team to support the current AWS platform, build/deploy new services and support Technology teams
- Be able to design scalable and robust AWS infrastructure with security at the forefront.
- Always be looking to improve and challenge processes to improve speed, security, and quality of delivery.
- Play an active role in daily stand-ups, retrospectives and other agile ceremonies.
- Carry out all duties in a manner that reflects Financial Wellness Group’s values at all times.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Main Requirements:
- Deep understanding of AWS Cloud infrastructure platform
- Strong knowledge Infrastructure as code in particular Terraform Or tools such as AWS Cloud Formation
- Knowledge of Configuration Management Ansible, Puppet etc.
- Proficient in use of container orchestration, management and deployment
- Proficient in serverless infrastructure & microservices such as ECS, FARGATE Lambda, K8S, etc.
- Proficient in Windows & Linux operating systems
- Strong understanding of AWS well architected framework
- Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD platforms i.e. Azure Devops, Jenkins, Gitlab & Octopus.
- Network administration of Transit Gateway for multi account connectivity, routing and DNS etc.
- Monitoring & Alerting using AWS Native such as CloudWatch, Cloud Trail and understanding of available 3rd party tools such as Coralogix, Grafana, Pingdom, OpsGenie etc.
- Strong understanding of AWS security tooling and designs.
- Experience helping create standards and methodologies. Then helping adopt and maintain this within the organization.
