Hello everyone!
BUILDCHECK™—a dynamic, venture-backed Stanford University startup—is looking for a talented Machine Learning Engineer to drive innovation in the construction technology space. We’re on a bold mission: revolutionizing construction workflows by building the industry’s first AI-powered “spell-checker” for construction blueprints. Our solution helps architects, developers, and contractors detect costly errors before they become expensive problems.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead development of computer vision models for interpreting 2D construction drawings.
- Create optimized semantic segmentation, object detection, classification, and zero-shot learning pipelines specific to construction drawings analysis.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance model performance to ensure high accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to integrate vision models into scalable backend systems.
- Stay current with the latest developments in computer vision and multimodal document analysis technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, specifically with a strong focus on computer vision.
- Deep understanding of modern architectures of Neural Networks for CV problems.
- Proven expertise in semantic segmentation, object detection, and image classification (YOLO, SAM, SegFormer).
- Practical experience working with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) and image processing libraries (OpenCV).
- Strong coding proficiency in Python.
- Experience deploying scalable ML pipelines using cloud infrastructure (AWS Lambda, AWS SageMaker).
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with multimodal AI systems combining CV and NLP technologies.
- Familiarity with PDF layout analysis and document understanding tools.
- Knowledge of advanced inference optimization techniques (e.g., TensorRT, ONNX).
- Familiarity with model lifecycle management tools (MLFlow, Weights & Biases).
