About the role:

BetterMe invites freelance 2D Animators, Character Animators, VFX artists OR Art Studios to cooperate in creating the human-characters animations for our mobile game.

As Animator you will bring to life the human characters and creatures of the love story interactive otome game.

Our Character Animators are responsible for designing characters and creating movement for them in a way that will best aid the narrative and quality of the production. Essentials needed for this role: good understanding of the principles of emotions animation, body movement, anticipation, overshoot, follow-through, squash and stretch, and other facets of 2D animation. And, of course, passion about making great games.

This job is remote and project based.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of animation principles with a good sense of timing
  • Have experience + portfolio with 2D character animation (portfolio no need if test will be completed)
  • Have strong experience in Adobe Photoshop and animation and Skinning editor in Unity:
    • Creating optimised geometry
    • Rigging
    • Weights setup
  • Experience with easing and animation curves
  • Ability to make changes to existing animation clips
  • Ability to work with prefabs and understanding of prefab hierarchy
  • Experience crafting impressive, stylized real-time VFX assets for characters
  • Good oral and text communication skills
  • Ability work with deadlines

Additional requirements

  • Strong attention to overall detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks, focusing attention on the most important parts
  • Must be committed to delivering the best possible results and achieving visual expectations
  • Understands the artwork is functional to the game, has gameplay relevance and implications
  • Good understanding of how visual effect reinforces gameplay experience of the player

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with VFX lead, understand the requirements, make research, create and implement solutions in the engine
  • Make changes to the original image if the animation requires it
  • Create character animations according to the technical requirements
  • Create effects that support any given project in a timely manner
  • Handle all aspects of the animation production pipeline, from concept to final implementation
  • Import and export assets (Packages) into the Unity engine according to all technical specifics
