We are looking for a focused and passionate individual to join us to develop open marketplace solution on the Magento 2 platform as well as assist with scaling our in-house development team.

Your role will be to oversee our Magento architecture, build new features (both frontend and backend) and liaise with 3rd party teams. You should have demonstrable experience in the eCommerce space using Magento 2. You should be adaptable and agile in your approach, prioritising business goals and delivering high-quality solutions. 

What you will be doing

  • You will be involved in product design, scoping and estimation sessions alongside the Product and Project Management teams
  • As a Senior Developer, you will take ownership of Magento development within the company and help to grow our internal Magento development team including hiring new talent and upskilling the team
  • You will deliver and customise bespoke Magento modules and functionality including frontend, backend, and integrations
  • Be able to estimate and then meet agreed delivery dates
  • Participate in peer reviews of other team members’ code and provide mentoring to strengthen the team around you
  • Liaise with our designers to build compelling user interfaces
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the wider e-commerce team relating to custom and core Magento functionality

What you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Magento 2 Developer building and maintaining custom modules and features
  • Detailed product knowledge of Magento 2 Open Source including systems functionality and system architecture
  • An understanding of the most popular third-party modules included in the standard Magento 2 installation
  • Several years of experience in general coding and software design in in PHP (7/8)
  • Familiar with the main database entities for Magento 2 on a MySQL platform
  • Familiar with Magneto 2 front end development, html, CSS and templates customization
  • Familiar with Magento 2 REST/GraphQL API endpoints and usage
  • Experienced with CI and testing tools
  • Proficient with GitHub code versioning, branching, merging etc.
  • A solid understanding of both frontend and backend development best practices including secure development
  • Strong understanding of web standards and best practices, especially pertaining to e-commerce

Other skills and experience which would be beneficial

  • Ideally working towards or a holder of any Adobe certified Magento certification
  • Has worked in an agile development environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with caching systems like varnish and Redis
  • Experience of scaling up a Magento platform to handle large customer volumes
  • Able to write unit and integration tests
